RECENT WORK
Vintage feedsacks are in limited supply, and so in honor of their origin story I am being thrifty and use up every scrap! I hand dye the plain backs and, in some cases, salvage a damaged bag by overdying the graphic elements and applying elsewhere. I have also drawn inspiration from Depression-era photography by dressing some of my characters in the clothing styles of the time.
The fabrics that I have used for the dresses and housecoats are actual vintage flour sack pieces, designed by the mills to be re-used as dress material. Although this was a trend that was born out of need, it proved so popular that it continued through the 1950s.
